Tax time!   AAGGHH! From Michele Ashby

Tax time!   AAGGHH!
From Michele Ashby
February 18,2015

I have been at the desk all weekend working on taxes – the ritual is the same – I have a huge box of receipts all organized in hanging folders and the fat questionnaire from an accountant to fill out.  The point is to get all the pieces of data collected and organized and added up, so that I can answer the questions on the form.  Whether you file on line or you use an accountant, you still have to keep and record a lot of information for your taxes.

This year, Turbo Tax had a number of filers who found out that someone else had filed on their behalf and requested refunds in their names.  In this world of fraud and identity theft on line, it is important to keep track of your identity on line and to be sure you avoid any risks with your money.

The recommendation this year is to use an accountant or accounting group like H & R Block to file your taxes.  Also be sure to check your credit report often to make sure no one else is setting up credit cards with your identity.  Although the on-line banking and direct payment work is there for convenience, it has created an extra burden on us because of the risk of identity theft.

Tax filing is just one way we can be violated on line and lose precious time and money – be sure you are aware of your on line activity and check your records often. Also, it is a good idea to carry fraud protection – check out Life Lock, Zander insurance or your own insurance carrier for a policy to cover you and your family.
Ok, I finished my tax prep for 2014, I can get back to my other work now.  I hope you have a smooth prep yourself.

Reflection by Thomas H.Cullen

Reflection
By: Thomas H.Cullen

Seeing the whole, is what it means to break through... You want to say the impressive, or accomplish the impressive, what then this means is your having to widen your horizon. To "see" all of the current moment you're part of.
It hurts, to break through. In a current moment, perhaps not, but regularly, I find I experience feelings of hurt and sadness, trying generally to be someone of wide horizons...
We are vulnerable creatures - far more vulnerable, than casually we admit - something also, I find that moves me forcibly. If reality plays tricks with me (a term of language I don't enjoy using!), remembering this will provide that equal counterweight...
Despite the sheer quantity of them, just one 24 hour day is all it takes for an entire life to be destroyed; as much as it "does" hurt, living reality as a regular contradiction, I nevertheless feel the urge to.
